New look for county cycle ride!

The team behind Northamptonshire’s favourite annual fundraising bike ride is delighted to announce that this year’s event will also be helping some of the county’s most vulnerable youngsters.

Cycle 4 Cynthia, which is taking place at its new home of Lamport Hall on Sunday 21st September, will not only be raising much-needed funds for Cynthia Spencer Hospice and its team of community nurses as before, but also now welcomes Kidsaid as a new beneficiary – the Northampton-based charity which provides support for children and young people who have suffered abuse, bereavement, bullying and family problems.

Countess Spencer who is Patron of Kidsaid, and whose husband The Earl Spencer is Patron of the Hospice, explained why the partnership is so valuable; “I am absolutely delighted that Kidsaid has been chosen to benefit from this wonderful event and on behalf of the charity, I’m grateful to all those cyclists who will be putting in such a great effort for us later this year.

“Children living in the aftermath of trauma need and deserve the kind of support that Kidsaid can offer and thanks to Cycle 4 Cynthia’s support, the charity will be able to deliver proper help to more youngsters who desperately need its services.”

The exciting details of Kidsaid’s involvement, which will see them receive ten percent of the monies raised from the event, coincides with news of the merger of the hospice’s two fundraising arms - the Cynthia Spencer Charitable Trust and the Friends of Cynthia Spencer Hospice - to form the Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity. As its Chair, Pam Nock, revealed, this year’s ride will be a massive boost to its early success; “We’re delighted that this new, all-encompassing charity has been created and I want to assure all those who will be generously pedalling for us in September that the money they raise will enable us to continue offering a first class service to our patients and their families, just as we have for the last 38 years!

“So we’d really encourage everyone to dig out their bikes and join us for what is always a fabulous day and of course help not only Kidsaid but also to give our new charity the best possible start.”

Cycle 4 Cynthia, which is now in its eleventh year, is on Sunday 21st September and will start and finish at Lamport Hall. It will again offer riders 5, 25 or 50 mile routes around the delightful villages of north and west Northamptonshire.
