Property firm ‘medals’ in Hospice affairs!

Forget Olympic gold! The medal that Northamptonshire’s cyclists will be bidding for later this year is the one that’s hung round their necks at the end of the county’s favourite fundraising bike ride, Cycle4Cynthia, staged annually in aid of Cynthia Spencer Hospice.

And this year’s decoration will be extra special to mark the Hospice’s 40th birthday, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Northampton-based lettings and sales agent Chelton Brown.

Unlike those who will be picking up the sporting gongs in Rio this summer, every pedaller who completes either the 5, 25 or 50 mile routes will be rewarded with one of the anniversary medals!

Recipients of previous years’ end-of-ride neckwear include Saints player and Six Nations grand slam-winning England captain Dylan Hartley and Radio 2 DJ Jo Whiley, both of whom have leapt into their saddles to help raise funds for this most deserving of causes.

For Chelton Brown’s managing director, Sali Brown, the partnership was an obvious tie-up; “The Hospice is such a wonderful charity, doing vital and valuable work within the community so, having been a supporter of the event for a number of years, we’re thrilled to be able to play our part again in this memorable way” explained Sali.

“And by wonderful coincidence, we marked our own four decades in business last year so this gives us a perfect excuse to continue our celebrations for a little bit longer and I’d urge everyone to join us for the party, which is what the ride is every year!” she enthused.

For John Helm, the Hospice’s fundraising manager, the event simply wouldn’t be the annual success it is without so many of the county’s businesses stepping forward: “Cycle4Cynthia is lucky to have had Chelton Brown’s support for the last three years but it is wonderful news that they have decided to sponsor the commemorative medal to help celebrate such a fantastic achievement as our 40th birthday” said John.

“It is only through the amazing backing of local companies, like Chelton Brown, that Cycle4Cynthia has become the most successful event in the Hospice calendar so our thanks go out to Sali and all her team for their continuing efforts. There are many ways businesses can get involved in supporting the event so we look forward to hearing from other firms who might also want to help us!” he added.

Cycle4Cynthia is taking place on Sunday 25th September at the new venue of Holdenby House, by kind permission of James and Karen Lowther.

More information, including details of the new routes and entry and sponsorship forms, or how to support the event are available on this website or by calling the Hospice on 01604 678088. Cyclists are also encouraged to keep up to date with the latest news by ‘liking’ the ride’s page on Facebook.

Meanwhile anyone who would like to sign up in person for the ride is also invited to visit Weston Favell Centre in Northampton on Saturday 25th June where a team of Centre staff will be in training for their participation in this year’s event by powering a smoothie-maker with pedal power, having chosen the Hospice as its ‘Charity of the Year’.
