Bike4Bedtime challenge hots up!

Bike4Bedtime challenge hots up!

If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em, so the saying goes, and that’s exactly what one local design and build specialists has done in support of the county’s newest charity fundraising initiatives.

Goodrich Consulting LLP, the construction consultancy based in Milton Malsor, heard the details of ‘Bike4Bedtime’, which has been introduced for this year’s Cycle4Cynthia, the biggest fundraiser in the calendar for Northamptonshire’s Cynthia Spencer Hospice, and immediately decided to get involved.

The scheme invites friends, families and colleagues to enter a team of four, which at £15 per rider is just £60, with each cyclist then simply encouraged to raise sponsorship of £111, thereby raising the exact total it costs to pay for one day’s expert, specialist care for one patient at the Hospice’s inpatient unit - £504.

Paul Riley is a Partner at Goodrich and says that the decision to sign up was an easy one, for three very good reasons: “Firstly, the company has entered a Cycle4Cynthia team made up primarily of staff and friends who are clients for the last three years and it really is a fantastic ride with an amazing atmosphere” explained Paul.

“Secondly, being among hundreds of people, of all ages and abilities, coming together on two wheels to support the hospice, is what really makes it so special because anyone who’s ever had experience of losing a loved one at Cynthia Spencer can’t help but want to ensure that its amazing care can continue for those who might need it in the future, and the ride is a great way to do just that.

“Thirdly, when we learned that one of our clients, Richard Darby of The Darby Group, who has ridden with us before, had gone and entered his own Bike4Bedtime team this year, we knew we didn’t want to be left out of this brilliant new fundraising idea!” he enthused.

‘Bike4Bedtime’ has seen a flurry of teams come forward and pledge to raise the £504 required to provide a day’s vital care for a patient and the Hospice’s fundraising manager, John Helm, is hoping many more will follow suit: “We’re thrilled that Goodrich and a number of other teams are getting involved and of course we’d urge others to join them and help contribute to the million pounds and more we need each year to continue to provide our vital services to our patients and their families” revealed John.

“So, with the event now less than two months away, please dig out those bikes and sign up for what promises to be another really memorable day and which we know will enable us to make such a difference to so many people’s lives” he added.

Cycle4Cynthia 2019, again being generously supported by headline sponsor EMW Law LLP, will take place on Sunday 22nd September at Holdenby House by kind permission of James and Karen Lowther, with 5, 25 and 50 mile routes on offer.
